If you look at the MSI B550 product stack, there are a couple of motherboards covering every budget, ranging from 125 to 220 bucks. The previous generation Tomahawk motherboard comes with oversized VRM heatsinks, and this motherboard is quite the same but has an integrated IO cover.
We’ve tested this motherboard in different aspects, and in all our reviews and tests, this motherboard performs quite similar to the other mid-range B550 motherboard and has no improvements. With default BIOS settings, this motherboard managed to push our Ryzen 9 3900X to 4.6 GHz, which is not bad.
The top half section on this motherboard has a black body with grey contrast on the heatsink, making it appealing and similar to the X570 Tomahawk. Underneath these heatsinks, there are voltage regulators, which we’ve mentioned above, and they are capable of handling out Ryzen 9 3900X very well.
Moving to the bottom section of this motherboard, there is a chipset heatsink with RGB lights underneath and Tomahawk branding on it. There are two PCIe x16 slots and two M.2 slots with a dedicated heat spreader for them, and primary slots run at PCIe Gen4 mode while secondary slots are at PCIe Gen3 mode.
There are two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A and Type-C, two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A and USB 2.0 ports, and some other connectivity ports. I would not say this motherboard is too exceptional in connectivity options, but it just comes with features that a user needs in his build.
There is also a BIOS flashback button that can return the BIOS to its defaults without a CPU and most of the B550 motherboards we’ve reviewed lacks it. When you look at the Gigabyte B550 motherboards stack, there are around seven different options that you can choose from. This includes entry-level options like B550M DS3H or premium models like B550 Aorus Master, and you can choose what you need to save some bucks for other components.
The motherboard we’ve reviewed is the B550 Aorus Master, an ATX form factor board for high-end users. The price of this motherboard is slightly high as it costs similar to the X570 motherboards, but the premium features on it justify its price.
There are 16-phase design voltage regulators on this motherboard that comes in 14+2-phase configuration and 70A MOSFETs for Vcore. The looks of both of these motherboards are much similar, and it’s pretty hard to differentiate between them based on their looks.
The bottom section of this motherboard has three M.2 slots with dedicated heat spreaders for all of them colored in black and suits the dark color theme. For further storage expansion, there are six SATA 6 Gbps slots on this board that are right-angled and avoid clearance issues with large graphics cards.
The connectivity options on this motherboard are pretty interesting as it comes with USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C (10 Gbps), USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A (10 Gbps), and USB 2.0 ports. There are lot more ports on the rear IO, including display output ports like HDMI and DP, BIOS flashback button, etc.

I usually prefer these motherboards for white gaming builds, or if someone has a meager budget and is looking for something that performs well, I recommend these options. This motherboard is affordable but doesn’t have all entry-level stuff packed on it, which makes it compelling.
There are 14-phase power design regulators on this motherboard configured in 12+2-phase configuration and 60A MOSFETs for Vcore. An extended heat spreader over the VRM ensures the low temperature of the voltage regulators and better overclocking options for mainstream Ryzen processors.

Taichi means a philosophical state of infinite potential, and this motherboard targets the high-end market on a budget chipset with premium features.
What you need to think about this motherboard is whether its price falls in the X570 pricing and is it worth buying in 2022, or should we look for some good X570 motherboard. ASRock B550 motherboards stack contains at least twelve boards ranging from $79 to $299, while my favorite Extreme 4 costs $180.
The 16-phase power regulators on this motherboard are something more than what other boards are offering, but 50A MOSFETs don’t. The voltage regulators are configured in 14+2 phases with extended heatsinks to maximize the overclocking potential without any problem.
We’ve put the same Ryzen 9 3900X on this motherboard to test its performance, and it pushed the clocks of this processor to 4.3 GHz (Two Cores/All Boosted). At the same time, the memory rating was DDR4 3600 MHz; it’s not bad but similar to most of the other B550 motherboards we’ve reviewed before.

There aren’t many options available in the market about mini ITX motherboards, so going for a known brand like Asus is never wrong; the STRIX B550-I gaming proves itself by giving good VRMs, dual M.2 slots, and wifi6. Strix B550-I comes with 10-phases VRM, which are even enough to run 3900X.
For display ports, it features both HDMI 2.1 and a DisplayPort 1.4 as well as Audio CODEC S1220A for SupremeFX 7.1 Surround Sound supporting up to 32-Bit/192kHz playback.
