Therefore, we need to get some basics about what precisely an emulator is to understand how it works.

What exactly is an emulator and why do I need it?

A computer can do many things so why cannot it play console games? Well, that’s what an “emulator” is for! An emulator is a virtual computer program that is made to copy another kind of device. In this case, The Xbox.

A typical example is PUBG mobile emulator known as GameLoop which allows you to play mobile games on your pc; same as that there are many Xbox emulators which let you play your favorite game on your pc. But one thing to remember is that to run certain emulators, you need beefy hardware so always go through the system requirements before installing any emulator.

Lastly and most importantly, sharing any copyright ROMs online is illegal; however, downloading and using an emulator is legal.

Which emulator will we be using?

Now comes the most crucial part: which emulator will we use? well certainly there are many emulators present in the market like:

Xeon Emulator:

It was the first Xbox emulator designed explicitly for the Xbox platform that was able to run the Halo NTSC version.56 Stable titles are supported but it is buggy.

CXBX Emulator:

CXBX was designed for both Windows and Mac. It has only 5 games supported but it is getting better day by day.

DXBX Emulator:

DXDBX is one solid emulator that can not only run 360 titles but also Xbox one titles too, it supports 32 Bit windows gaming with Directx 8 compatibility.

Xemu:

Xemu is another emulator that not only works on Windows but on Mac and Ubuntu too, it plays about 30% of the original titles.

Xenia Emulator:

The most popular emulator in the market, Xenia has 50+ stable titles supported, including Stable Halo games. It was originally developed in 2013 as a side project and now it can correctly emulate most of the Xbox titles due to its specific feature of Direct3D 12 known as Rasterizer-Ordered Views which is unfortunately available to very few graphics cards.

Today we will be using the most common one known as XENIA which isn’t just open source but also the most stable one out of all the emulators present in the market.

  • GPU: capable of Vulkan or Direct3D 12
  • RAM: 4GB

  3. The downloading will start immediately
  4. When done, extract the given file
